Well, nearly… Jack just turned one on February 29th, ahhh, I mean March 1st, and we’ve enjoyed celebrating, as a family over Skype with Olivia, and with friends here in Loki, enjoying home made ice cream and cake. We enjoyed it, except for Jack who found the cake idea upsetting. Give him butternut squash anyday.

We weighed him tonight and he is at 7.25kg. When you start at .8 kg, that’s a pretty hefty weight gain. But instead of more words, I really wanted to share this video of him I put together of his first year on Earth, especially for those of you who don’t get to see him smile, or kick his feet, or roll around in his walker. (Warning, it contains a lot of shameless closeup shots of Jack)

Jack’s One from Jered Hurd on Vimeo.

Remembering the first year of Jack’s life. He entered the world on February 29th 2012 weighing in at 800 grams (1lb 13oz) and was 33 cm (13 inches) long. Though small, and to our eyes helpless, God was his strength and our wisdom and comfort.
We just celebrated his first birthday. He now weighs 7.25 kg (16 lbs) and is 68.6 cm (27 in) long!
These are snapshots of his life intertwined in ours, from Lokichogio, Kenya to the airline ride from the US, to the hospital in Indiana.
Come, taste and see what the Lord has done.
