The last three months brought a lot of transition for the family. While most of the focus, we hope, has been on God working in Jack’s mini-body, I thought it would be kind of fun to get the “middle” children to share these changes from their perspective.

Jerry: It’s so great to have you here with us in beautiful sunny mid-west America. You’ve had a lot of changes in your life recently. Can you tell us what was most significant?

Isaiah: What does that mean?
Jack!!!
He was cute.
Grace: We did all that fuss over him and now we’re still in America.
I: Yeah, and now I’m going to sit on Grace.

J: When did you know you would be coming to the US?

G: When we came back from horseback riding on Monday.
I: When I was playing with my friends on the playground and we were swinging. Mom said something, and I just ran over and she telled me.
G: When we came home, Isaiah came running over to the car and said “We’re Going to America Today!” I said: “What! That’s awesome!” I was really excited.
I: Grace you’re probably glad cause you got to learn about Phineas and Ferb.

J: Which of the American restaurants do you like the most?

I: McDonalds!
G: Well I’m kind of tied between Wendy’s, McDonalds, and KFC. I like the chicken of KFC, the fries of Wendys, and the toys and fries of McDonalds.

J: What is your favorite work by Pablo Picasso?

G: What? Who’s He?
I: What does that mean?
J: Ok well he is an artist. Who IS your favorite artist?
G: Olivia!

*Olivia pulls up a Picasso on the internet.
I: I do like it actually. I like him AND Olivia.

J: Besides homeschool, what’s your second favorite activity during the day?

G: Definitely NOT homeschool. During the day… probably reading.
I: Probably playing video games or playing imaginary games with Grace. Actually I mean electronics [not video games].

J: Speaking of homeschool, how hard is Mom working you now?

G: So far we’re not doing any school at the moment.
I: Really really hard G: on the reading. I: Mmm-hmm. And I’m trying to do it really, really hard. And by the way Grace really likes singing Phineas and Ferb songs.

J: Any ideas how many days off you get for summer?

Both: I don’t know. G: I hope as much as other kids.

J: How about your newest brother. Do you think he’s going to be able to keep up with you guys?

I: Yeah.    G: No    I: No, no, no. And guess what. G: Actually I have no idea.     I:   He….      G: Can you please stick with the topic, Isaiah.

J: Just between you and me, do you think he’s a little spoiled?

Both: No. G: Because he NEEDS the stuff. He’s not spoiled, but he needs the stuff. Well I guess he doesn’t need ALL the attention he gets.
I: But he needs the care! G: He needs the love, but doesn’t need everyone crowding around him a lot.

J: How small was he when you first saw him?

I: Super duper small. Not like this small (holds finger and thumb up), but he was adorable. He’s cute.
G: He was small.

J: How much does he eat? sleep?

I: I don’t know. G: A ton of bottles. G: Sometimes sleeps, but a lot I guess. I: Yeah, and by the way, he’s sleeping right now. G: He cries all the time, even in his sleep. He never stops. I: [whispering] He’s sleeping right now!

J: Well, thanks for entertaining these questions. You guys better get back to earning a living and school.

G: We’re not doing school, or earning a living.
I: I know what I’m saving up for: Eragon the video game. And then me and Grace can play it!

J: Anything else you want to tell your friends around the world?

G: I have a new favorite show called Phineas and Ferb.
I: I like Transformers. I have Transformers the video game. And we’re going to celebrate my birthday. And did I already say I like playing on things like video games?
G: Yes. Yes you did.
I: I don’t really feel like saying anything else.

J: Are you guys looking forward to going back to Kenya?

G: YES! YES! YES! YES!
I: Kind of
