In two days we leave Kenya. For a year. It’s surreal, intimidating, and also a little exciting.
One of the checklist items was getting check ups for the family. (Our health insurance covers a lot more outside of the US). Jack was due for a polio shot that was out of stock everywhere. It just came in yesterday, so I ran him back to the Pediatrician for that and a yellow fever shot (required for when he returns to Kenya next year). He was not thrilled. He wasn’t interested in ice cream or a hot dog to sweeten the deal, but fixated on a chocolate frosted donut with sprinkles. Those are not easy to come by in Nairobi.
However, after a little prayer and driving, I am happy to report mission accomplished for both objectives.
Hey Jerry, do your plans include a visit our way?
Kurt, I hope so. Our plans are pretty open right now. We’ll be in Dallas for 1-3 weeks depending on a couple factors. If we can come south, I’d love to make it happen. Our plans are to end up in Waxhaw in the fall after putting Olivia into Asbury University. I’ll be working on getting my CFII and then instructing at JAARS.
Hi Jerry and Family
Hoping best moments ahead of you as you Kenya to USA.
Remember Steve you used to work with in lokichoggio.
Steve, of course I remember you. Thanks for this message. If you are in Nairobi next year, please come by to say “Hi!”
